About The Role:
We are looking for a highly creative, execution-focused Social Media Manager who can wear multiple hats across social content production.

You’ll Be Responsible For 3 Core Functions:
Social Graphic Design
Create engaging, high-performing social media graphics from creative briefs, E.G.:
* Instagram carousel posts
* Static social graphics
* Paid social advertisements
* Story graphics
* Promotional assets
* Product launch creatives
* Marketing visuals
All graphics will be created in Canva, which is the company's required design platform for collaboration.
Video Editing
You'll transform raw footage into polished, social-first content, this includes:
* Instagram Reels
* TikTok videos
* Product videos
* Behind-the-scenes content
* Short-form promotional edits
* Paid advertising creatives
You'll receive raw footage and creative direction from the internal team, but you'll be expected to make thoughtful editing decisions that improve pacing, storytelling, and engagement.
The editing software is flexible—you may use CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or another professional editing platform.
Community Management
Beyond creating content, you'll help maintain the Company’s' highly engaged online community, this includes:
* Responding to comments
* Replying to Instagram and social DMs
* Engaging with followers
* Monitoring conversations
* Supporting multiple social accounts
* Helping maintain a positive and responsive brand presence
This is intended to be a lighter portion of the role, but it's an important way of helping the internal marketing team stay connected with their growing audience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Design beautiful, engaging social media graphics in Canva
* Edit short-form social media videos from raw footage
* Execute creative briefs quickly and accurately
* Suggest creative improvements when appropriate
* Publish and prepare social media assets
* Respond to comments and direct messages across multiple social accounts
* Support product launches and marketing campaigns
* Collaborate closely with the marketing and product teams
* Balance planned work with fast-moving startup priorities
* Jump into new projects as the business evolves
* Maintain a high standard of quality while working efficiently

* Experience with consumer brands or e-commerce companies
* Passion for fitness, running, sports, or lifestyle brands
* Experience working in startups or high-growth environments

* Adaptability
* Self-motivation
* Positive attitude

What Success Looks Like:
The ideal person is someone who loves creating content and enjoys being the person who gets things done.
You'll thrive if you:
* Can switch seamlessly between graphic design, video editing, and community engagement
* Work quickly without sacrificing quality
* Enjoy collaborating but don't require constant direction
* Can follow creative briefs while adding thoughtful improvements
* Stay organized while managing multiple projects simultaneously
* Are excited by the pace and variety of working at a fast-growing startup
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R27,750/month, this role is on par with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($1,500/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
