About the Client:
We have built a localized, consumer mobile app designed as a peer-to-peer trading card marketplace. While the platform supports various trading card games (including Pokémon), our most engaged, high-value users belong to card-for-card trading communities like Magic: The Gathering. Led by a software developer focused on product development, we are looking for a self-driven marketer to take full ownership of user acquisition, community growth, and top-of-funnel awareness.
About the Role:
We are seeking an autonomous, execution-focusedSocial Media & Growth Marketing Specialistto build and scale our online presence. In this role, you will lead our growth marketing efforts with a heavy initial emphasis on organic Reddit strategies, alongside secondary channels like Instagram and YouTube.
Because our founder is focused on engineering, you will have significant autonomy to run experiments, engage niche hobbyist communities, and execute general marketing initiatives. This is an ideal position for someone who understands niche/hobby collector cultures, thrives in community-led growth, and can hit the ground running with minimal oversight.
Role Responsibilities:
* Reddit & Community Growth:Lead our immediate low-hanging fruit opportunity on Reddit by engaging authentically in relevant subreddits, creating value-driven content, and driving organic adoption among TCG/CCG trading communities.
* Multi-Channel Social Strategy:Manage, curate, and scale our presence across Instagram, YouTube, and other relevant social channels to build brand awareness and organic reach.
* General Growth Marketing Support:Assist beyond social media management, contributing to top-of-funnel acquisition campaigns, app store optimization support, content marketing, and general growth initiatives.
* Community Engagement:Foster grassroots relationships within niche collector and trading card ecosystems (especiallyMagic: The Gatheringand similar card-for-card trading groups).
* Performance Tracking:Monitor community sentiment, track channel growth metrics, and iterate on strategy based on what successfully converts enthusiasts into active app users.
Role Requirements:
* Experience Level:2-4+ years of hands-on experience in social media, growth marketing, or community management (open to both mid-level and senior profiles).
* Niche & Community Expertise:Proven experience with Reddit communities, viral/organic growth, and community-led acquisition strategies.
* Domain Familiarity:Prior experience or deep familiarity working with niche hobby markets, gaming, consumer mobile apps, or peer-to-peer marketplaces is strongly preferred.
* Communication:Fluent professional English (written and verbal) with strong copywriting skills tailored to internet culture and collector spaces.
* Autonomy:High degree of self-reliance; ability to take high-level objectives and translate them into strategy and execution without daily hand-holding.
Nice-to-Have:
* Personal interest or background in Trading Card Games (e.g.,Magic: The Gathering,Pokémon,Yu-Gi-Oh!).
* Experience launching or growing consumer-facing mobile apps.
