Job Description
Role:Sales Development Representative (SDR)Location:South Africa or Latin America (Fully Remote)Compensation:$1,600/month USD + performance bonusesSchedule:US Business Hours (overlap with Mountain/Pacific Time required)
About the Client
Our client runs a fast-growing SaaS platform in the incentive-based marketing space, think digital loyalty points, cashback, referral programs, and commission engines for e-commerce and direct sales brands. They've scaled to several million dollars in revenue entirely through referrals and word-of-mouth, with no formal marketing engine yet. Their clients, many of them Shopify-based DTC brands and large direct sales organizations, consistently see 20β30% revenue growth and doubled profitability after implementation.
The product sells itself once it gets in front of the right person. Their founder closes at ~90%. What they're missing is the pipeline.
About the Role
This is not a seat-warming SDR role. There is no playbook waiting for you, no pre-built sequence, no warm list to dial through. You are walking into a company with a proven product, exceptional retention, and zero outbound infrastructure, and your job is to build it.
You'll own everything from ICP definition and toolstack setup (Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, cold email) to copywriting your own sequences and booking qualified meetings directly onto the founder's calendar. Think of yourself as a one-person growth engine with a clear path to closing or leading a team once you prove the model works.
The founder is an exceptional closer. Your job is to get the right people on his calendar.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and execute the outbound strategy from scratch, target segments, messaging, channels, and cadence
* Build and manage prospecting lists using tools like Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and similar platforms
* Run cold email and LinkedIn outreach campaigns with strong copy and sharp ICP targeting
* Qualify inbound and outbound leads before passing them to the founder for closing
* Maintain CRM hygiene and report on pipeline metrics weekly
* Collaborate with leadership to refine messaging as you learn what resonates
* Provide market feedback to sharpen positioning and ICP over time
Ideal Candidate
* 3+ years in SDR, BDR, or outbound sales, preferably in SaaS or e-commerce
* Has built outbound processes before, not just executed inside an existing one
* Knows the Shopify/DTC ecosystem or has sold into e-commerce brands
* Comfortable owning the full top-of-funnel: research, outreach, qualification, handoff
* Proficient with Apollo, HubSpot, Sales Nav, or equivalent tools
* Excellent written English, most communication is async via Slack and email
* Self-directed, entrepreneurial, and unbothered by ambiguity
Bonus Points
* Experience selling into multi-level marketing (MLM) or direct sales companies
* Existing network in the e-commerce or loyalty/rewards space
* Has ramped an outbound function at a startup before
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R22,200/month, this role is on par with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($1,200/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards β use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
