About the Company
We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based real estate firm that owns and manages a portfolio of commercial properties. Our accounting function supports the full financial lifecycle of these assets — from daily transactions through month-end and year-end close, annual budgeting, and lease-recovery reconciliations.
As the portfolio grows, so does the need for accurate, timely property-level financials and a well-run Yardi environment. This role sits at the center of that.
About the Role
This is not a data-entry position, and it is not a role where you wait for instructions.
We are hiring a property accountant who can own the financials for a set of commercial properties end to end — the invoices, the ledgers, the reporting, and especially the lease recoveries — while treating Yardi as a system to be improved, not just operated.
The role exists because our portfolio has outgrown a purely transactional accounting setup. We need someone who understands the logic behind CAM, NNN, and additional-rent reconciliations (not just the keystrokes), who catches errors before they post, and who can build repeatable processes that scale as we grow. Final sign-off stays with us; the accuracy, the analysis, and the process improvement will be yours.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Invoice Integrity
* Code invoices to the correct property, entity, and general ledger account
* Flag duplicate invoices, missing documentation, and coding discrepancies before they post
* Support and maintain clean, well-documented AP workflows
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
* Review monthly balance sheets, income statements, and GL postings across all managed properties
* Prepare property-level financial reports and clearly explain significant variances against budget
* Perform bank reconciliations and support accurate month-end close
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Develop annual operating budgets for each property
* Track actuals against budget throughout the year and surface variances early
Tenant Accounting & Lease Recoveries
* Prepare and distribute monthly tenant statements
* Review tenant ledgers and recurring charges for accuracy
* Prepare CAM, NNN, operating expense, tax, insurance, and additional-rent reconciliations
* Calculate tenant pro rata shares and apply the correct lease provisions
* Prepare reconciliation workpapers and updated estimated charges for internal approval
* Monitor tenant AR and coordinate on outstanding balances
Audit, Tax & Close Support
* Support monthly and year-end accounting
* Respond to CPA requests and support audits and tax preparation
Systems & Process Improvement
* Identify underutilized Yardi features and recommend ways to streamline accounting workflows
* Build documented procedures and recurring reports for approved processes
* Serve as the internal point of expertise for Yardi Breeze and/or Voyager
Required Qualifications
* Hands-on property accounting or real estate bookkeeping experience
* Working experience inYardi Breeze, Yardi Voyager, or both
* Practical knowledge of CAM, NNN, and additional-rent reconciliations
* Solid grasp of balance sheets, income statements, general ledgers, and accrual accounting
* Experience preparing property budgets and financial reports
* Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation work)
* Excellent attention to detail and clear written English
* Proven ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with U.S. commercial property accounting
* Exposure to multi-entity or multi-property portfolios
* A track record of documenting or improving accounting processes withinYardi
