Job Description

Personal Injury Litigation Legal Assistant

Location:RemoteEmployment Type:Full-Time ICWorking Hours:U.S. Business Hours (CDT) with required overlapReports To:Personal Injury Trial Attorneys & Litigation Team

About the Firm

We are a growing U.S.-based personal injury law firm dedicated to advocating for injured clients and securing strong outcomes through aggressive, well-prepared representation. Our trial attorneys handle active litigation matters that move quickly from discovery through mediation and trial, and they depend on litigation support professionals who keep cases organized, deadlines protected, and files trial-ready.

We are expanding our litigation support bench to give our trial lawyers additional capacity as caseloads grow.

About the Role

This role exists to give our trial attorneys hands-on litigation support across active personal injury cases. You will work directly alongside attorneys preparing matters for discovery, deposition, mediation, and trial β€” while drawing on pre-litigation experience (demand packages, records, LORs/LOPs) to move cases as they transition into the litigation phase.

This is not an intake or pure pre-litigation position. We are looking for litigation-strong assistants who understand the full personal injury lifecycle and can step into active cases with minimal ramp-up. The deeper your command of U.S. personal injury litigation processes, the more room there is to grow with our team.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery & Litigation Support
* Draft and respond to written discovery: Interrogatories, Requests for Production (RFPs), and Requests for Admission (RFAs)
* Prepare discovery responses and supplemental discovery responses
* Track discovery deadlines and maintain document repositories
* Prepare subpoenas, affidavits, and supporting litigation documents
Deposition, Mediation & Trial Preparation
* Prepare deposition materials and draft deposition summaries
* Support mediation preparation and assemble supporting documentation
* Assist attorneys with trial preparation, exhibits, witness files, and trial binders
Medical Records & Damages Analysis
* Request, obtain, organize, and review medical records and medical bills
* Prepare medical chronologies and treatment summaries
* Support case valuation, liability analysis, and damages analysis
Demand & Settlement Support
* Draft and assemble demand packages
* Support demand and settlement negotiations
* Coordinate communications with insurance carriers and adjusters
* Prepare settlement documentation and case-closing materials
Pre-Litigation Crossover
* Prepare Letters of Representation (LOR/LOA) and Letters of Protection (LOPs)
* Handle records requests and coordinate with healthcare providers
* Support cases transitioning from pre-litigation into active litigation
Client Communication & Case Management
* Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and explaining next steps
* Maintain complete, organized case files within the firm's case management system
* Track critical dates: statutes of limitation, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates

Required Qualifications
* 2+ years supporting U.S. personal injury law firms as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Assistant, or Paralegal
* Direct, hands-on experience in U.S. personal injury litigation (not intake-only)
* Demonstrated experience with written discovery: interrogatories, RFPs, RFAs, and discovery responses
* Experience preparing demand packages and reviewing medical records and medical bills
* Experience supporting deposition, mediation, and/or trial preparation
* Some pre-litigation experience (LORs/LOPs, records requests, demand prep)
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
* Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple active litigation files with minimal supervision
* High attention to detail and disciplined deadline management

Preferred Qualifications
* Plaintiff-side personal injury experience
* Experience with deposition summaries, chronology preparation, and liability and damages analysis
* Familiarity with case valuation support and supplemental discovery responses
* Experience with subpoenas, affidavits, and court filing procedures
* Knowledge of Filevine, SmartAdvocate, Litify, Clio, PINS, or similar legal software
* Bilingual English/Spanish

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are litigation-fluent and comfortable working active personal injury cases through discovery, deposition, mediation, and trial. You know how a demand package comes together, you can summarize a deposition or build a medical chronology without hand-holding, and you understand how pre-litigation work feeds the litigation process.

You are highly organized, proactive, and protective of deadlines. You take ownership of your work, flag issues before they become problems, and give trial attorneys real capacity rather than another task to manage
