Job Description
Outbound Sales Development Representative (Cold Calling)
Location:RemoteEmployment Type:Full-time contractor, onboarded via DeelHours:Full overlap with U.S. business hoursCompensation:Competitive monthly compensation in USD, commensurate with experience + variable compensation.
About the Company
We are a rapidly growing U.S.-based outbound sales company that helps vertical software businesses reach customers other tools can't find. Our clients sell to real-world, owner-operated businesses — home services, legal, healthcare, recreation, manufacturing, logistics — the kind of owners who don't live on LinkedIn and rarely take a cold call.
We do two things exceptionally well: we source and verify hard-to-find owner mobile numbers, and we put skilled reps on the phone to turn those numbers into booked meetings. Every call is recorded, transcribed, and scored, and our reps are backed by real training and coaching. We are a phone-first company, and our reps are the engine that drives everything.
About the Role
This is not a support role. It is the revenue engine of the business.
As an Outbound SDR, you dial on behalf of our clients — representing their brand to small business owners who are notoriously hard to reach and skeptical of anyone selling to them. Each rep effectively runs an outbound program for a client account: you get past the front desk, reach the owner directly, build rapport fast, and book a qualified meeting on the client's calendar.
Because our clients often start month-to-month, your performance directly determines whether they stay. The bar is high — the target is roughly one booked meeting per day — and the reward is that you become the reason accounts renew and expand.
You may work across different verticals and client brands over time. Before going live on a new account, you'll prepare and role-play against the client's buyer persona so you sound credible from the first dial. Energy, adaptability, and consistency matter more here than any script.
Key Responsibilities
Outbound Calling & Prospecting
* Make high-volume outbound cold calls to small business owners on behalf of client accounts
* Reach owners directly, often on mobile, and navigate past gatekeepers and front desks
* Deliver client messaging with genuine energy and adapt your tone to the person and the vertical
Meeting Generation & Qualification
* Book qualified meetings on clients' calendars, targeting approximately one per day
* Qualify prospects against each client's criteria before booking
* Handle objections in real time and keep conversations moving toward a yes
Account Representation & Adaptability
* Represent multiple client brands professionally and credibly across different industries
* Prepare for each new account, including role-play against buyer personas before going live
* Adjust your approach and scripts based on call feedback and coaching
Performance & Continuous Improvement
* Hit dial, connection, and booked-meeting targets consistently
* Participate in call reviews — every call is recorded, transcribed, and scored
* Apply coaching quickly and iterate on your approach
* Log all activity and outcomes accurately in the CRM
Required Qualifications
* Proven outbound sales experience with a track record of personally booking meetings through cold calls — this is not a first sales job
* Comfort with high-volume dialing and a high tolerance for rejection
* Excellent spoken English — clear, neutral, and confident on the phone
* Ability to build rapport quickly with non-technical, real-world business owners
* Full overlap with U.S. business hours
* A reliable remote setup: high-speed internet, backup power, a quiet workspace, and a quality headset
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience calling or selling to SMB and owner-operated businesses (trades, home services, healthcare practices, local businesses)
* Prior experience working with U.S.-based clients or markets
* Familiarity with dialers, CRMs, and structured outbound cadences
* Experience representing multiple brands or accounts, such as an agency or outbound BPO background
* Based in Cape Town
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are:
* Wired for the phone— you actually like cold calling and the hunt that comes with it
* High-energy and personable— you know energy books meetings, not a perfect script
* Resilient— a day full of no's doesn't shake you
* Coachable— you take feedback and adjust immediately
* Consistent and disciplined— you show up and hit your numbers every day
* Quick on your feet— you handle objections and think in the moment
* Adaptable— you can represent different brands and sound credible in any vertical
Why Join Us
* You are the revenue engine, not a cost center — high visibility, high impact
* Real training, real coaching, and every call reviewed so you actually get better
* A growing company with expanding accounts and room to move up
* Fully remote, U.S. hours, paid in USD through Deel
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R18,500/month, this role is on par with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($1,000/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
