Job Description
Inventory & MRP Coordinator
Location:Fully remote (Latin America or Philippines)Employment Type:Independent contractorHours:Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week (guaranteed minimum), with a clear growth path to additional hours as the role expandsReports to:Operations teamCompany:Confidential — U.S.-based (details shared during the interview process)
About the Company
We are a family-owned, U.S.-based outdoor and hunting products company. We build and sell products across a portfolio of brands spanning scents, minerals, championship-grade game calls, and natural pet products.
We are a true manufacturer, not a reseller. We control our products from raw material to finished good — including production on our own farms — and we sell direct to consumers across multiple Shopify storefronts. Our production runs year-round, with sales peaking hard in the fall hunting season.
About the Role
Our inventory and MRP work is currently handled by our operations team. The problem: it pulls them off the production floor and away from managing people to sit at a computer doing technical systems work. We want a dedicated professional who already knows inventory systems and can own this function end to end.
This is not a data-entry seat. We are looking for someone who can keep our inventory accurate and our purchasing on schedule, and who can also look at how we operate and tell us how to do it better. A clear near-term example: our system connects to QuickBooks but does not yet sync inventory to our sales channels. We want someone who can help us close gaps like that and streamline how we run.
You will start owning the day-to-day, prepare purchasing for our approval, and earn autonomy over time as you demonstrate strong judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & System Administration
* Maintain accurate inventory records across roughly 150–200 finished-goods SKUs and their underlying materials
* Administer the day-to-day inventory/MRP system (currently MISys) and keep data clean and trustworthy
* Track raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods; reconcile counts and resolve discrepancies
Purchasing & Vendor Coordination
* Monitor stock levels and reorder points; prepare purchase orders and submit them for approval
* Coordinate with vendors on lead times, order status, and receiving
* Anticipate material needs ahead of production runs and seasonal demand
Production Order Management
* Create and manage production orders and maintain bills of materials
* Coordinate with the production team so builds are supported by the right materials at the right time
Forecasting & Seasonal Planning
* Support demand planning for the Q3/Q4 hunting-season peak
* Plan purchasing and production to prevent stockouts during peak and overstock during the slow months
Systems Optimization & Integration
* Identify inefficiencies in current inventory and purchasing workflows and recommend improvements
* Help integrate inventory across QuickBooks and our Shopify sales channels so stock stays accurate across every storefront
* Advise on best practices and better tooling where it makes sense
Required Qualifications
* Hands-on experience with an ERP, MRP, or inventory management system — for example MISys, Fishbowl, Cin7, Katana, NetSuite, SAP Business One, or QuickBooks Enterprise Manufacturing
* Solid grasp of inventory fundamentals: bills of materials, production orders, purchase orders, reorder points, and stock reconciliation
* Purchasing or procurement experience
* Strong written and spoken English
* Self-directed and able to own the function remotely with minimal supervision
* Comfortable recommending process and system improvements, not just executing tasks
Preferred Qualifications
* Direct MISys experience
* Manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or product-based e-commerce background
* Experience integrating inventory with Shopify and/or QuickBooks
* Demand forecasting or seasonal planning experience
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are:
* Highly organized and detail-driven — you keep a system clean without being told to
* Proactive — you catch a looming stockout before it becomes a problem
* A self-starter who works well independently and across time zones
* Systems-minded — you notice inefficiencies and bring solutions, not just observations
* A clear communicator who can explain technical inventory topics in plain language
Why Join Us
* Steady, year-round work with a growing, family-run company
* Real ownership of a function that matters to the business, with room to expand your role over time
* A team that wants your recommendations, not just your keystrokes
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R18,500/month, this role is on par with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($1,000/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
