About the Company
We are a growing, U.S.-based company entering a critical phase of operational and financial maturity. As the business scales, we are investing in strong financial leadership to bring structure, visibility, and forward-looking insight across all financial operations.
We are seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of accounting, reporting, and financial operations while partnering closely with leadership on strategic decision-making.
The Role
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role responsible for building and managing the company’s financial infrastructure.
You will serve as the central owner of accounting and finance operations—overseeing day-to-day execution while also driving financial planning, reporting, and process improvement. This role requires both operational excellence and strategic thinking.
You will work directly with leadership to ensure financial clarity, discipline, and scalability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Systems & Financial Infrastructure
* Design, implement, and maintain scalable accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
* Ensure compliance with US GAAP and all relevant financial regulations
* Own the general ledger, chart of accounts, and overall financial data integrity
* Continuously improve financial workflows, policies, and documentation
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis
* Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
* Deliver clear, actionable insights to leadership to support strategic decisions
* Build and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models
* Conduct ad hoc analysis across key business drivers (CAC, labor costs, margins, etc.)
3. Finance Operations
* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and payroll
* Manage monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Drive cash flow management, forecasting, and reporting (weekly and monthly)
* Ensure timely invoicing and collections to maintain strong cash position
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
* Partner with leadership on annual planning and ongoing forecasting
* Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis
* Help guide resource allocation and cost optimization decisions
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with leadership and department heads to align financial strategy with operations
* Translate financial data into clear recommendations for non-financial stakeholders
* Support decision-making across hiring, pricing, and growth initiatives
6. Systems & Process Improvement
* Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial tools and systems
* Lead process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
* Build reporting dashboards and improve visibility across the organization
7. Leadership & Ownership
* Take full ownership of the finance function in a fast-paced, evolving environment
* Operate as a proactive problem-solver, not just a reporter of numbers
* Step in where needed to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
Requirements
Experience & Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA and/or MBA preferred
* 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
* Prior experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader
* Experience in subscription-based or recurring revenue models is a strong plus
Technical & Functional Skills
* Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
* Deep experience with general ledger, month-end close, and financial controls
* Proven experience managing AP/AR, payroll, and cash flow
* Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
* Experience with modern accounting and finance tools (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.)
Soft Skills & Attributes
* High attention to detail with strong operational discipline
* Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
* Strong communication skills, with ability to present to leadership
* Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
* Proactive, ownership-driven mindset
