Job Description

Role:  Design Support Specialist

Priority Location: South Africa

Working Hours: 9am - 5pm (Mon - Fri) EST

Salary Range: $2,000 - $2,300 USD ($) per month(The final offer is at the client’s discretion and depends on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience.)

Type of contract:Independent Contractor

Type of job:Remote

About the Company:Our client is a hospitality SaaS and payments platform helping restaurants, cafes, and hospitality venues take control of their digital guest experience, from online ordering and Pay at Table to Add to Table and branded loyalty. They work with some of the UK's most exciting food and drink brands.

This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving, founder-led company and own the visual quality of our customers' digital storefronts. You'll sit within the Customer Operations team, working directly with Customer Success and Implementation to bring venues' brands to life across our product suite.

About the Role:

As Design Support Specialist, you will be the go-to person for front-end design across the company's customer-facing products. You'll translate brand guidelines, photography, and menu content into polished, conversion-optimised digital experiences, helping operators launch beautifully and perform commercially from day one.

This role sits at the intersection of design craft and customer service. You won't just push pixels — you'll develop a genuine understanding of what makes hospitality brands tick and apply that knowledge to every activation you own.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Activation & Design
* Build and configure front-end design for Online Ordering, Pay at Table, Add to Table, and loyalty surfaces on the platform
* Translate operator brand packs (logos, colour palettes, typography, photography) into cohesive, on-brand digital storefronts
* Create and size visual assets including hero banners, category headers, item imagery, and promotional tiles
* Ensure design consistency across web and mobile-optimised views
* QA your own work against brand guidelines and design standards before handover
Ongoing Design Support
* Own design change requests from live customers — seasonal refreshes, menu redesigns, promotional campaigns
* Maintain a library of reusable design components and brand assets per customer
* Work with Customer Success Managers to scope and prioritise design work across the portfolio
* Support Customer Success on upsell moments where design quality can drive upgrade or expansion
Standards & Process
* Develop and maintain our design standards guide for customer storefronts
* Build scalable templates and toolkits that enable faster, more consistent activations
* Feed back to the Product team where platform constraints are limiting design quality
* Contribute to the customer onboarding experience through great first-impression design
Who We’re Looking For:

Skills & Experience
* 2–4 years in a design, brand, or creative production role — agency, in-house, or both
* Strong working knowledge of Figma (or equivalent) for asset creation, resizing, and handoff
* Eye for typography, layout, and colour — you notice when something's slightly off
* Comfortable working within existing brand guidelines rather than building from scratch
* Some front-end awareness — you understand the difference between web and native, know what a CSS variable is, and aren't intimidated by platform constraints
* Experience in hospitality, food & drink, retail, or e-commerce is preferred
How You Work
* Fast and thorough — you can turn around a clean storefront in hours, not days
* Customer-oriented — you treat every operator's brand with the same care as your own work
* Collaborative — you communicate clearly with CS and Implementation, flag blockers early, and ask good questions
* Organised — you manage a queue of concurrent requests without dropping quality or deadlines
* Curious — you follow what's happening in hospitality and food & drink, and it shows in your work
