Construction Estimator & Systems Developer​

* Target Compensation Range:$2000 – $3,500 USD per month(dependent on geographic location and experience level)

As we continue to scale our operations, we are heavily focused on improving estimating accuracy, maximizing pricing consistency, and driving operational efficiency. We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and process-drivenConstruction Estimatorto not only support active project pricing but to play a pivotal role in building the scalable systems that will empower our field and sales teams to move faster and more accurately.

Role Overview

TheConstruction Estimator & Systems Developerwill be responsible for preparing highly accurate project estimates while serving as the architect for the company’s estimating systems and internal pricing processes.

This role extends far beyond traditional, repetitive estimating. The ideal candidate will possess a strong financial and analytical mindset—regularly auditing completed projects, comparing estimated costs against actual job costs (job costing), identifying pricing variances, and continuously refining our models to maximize company profitability and scaling capacity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Estimating
* Prepare highly detailed, accurate estimates for exterior construction projects including roofing, siding, gutters, exterior painting, and specialized repairs.
* Comprehensive review of project scopes, site measurements, architectural drawings, and technical specifications.
* Develop precise cost projections across labor assumptions, material takeoffs, equipment needs, and subcontractor pricing.
* Ensure all outgoing estimates align perfectly with company pricing standards and strict margin targets.

2. Estimating Systems & Process Development
* Build, maintain, and continuously improve internal estimating templates and dynamic pricing systems (primarily Excel/spreadsheet-based).
* Develop streamlined, rapid-use pricing tools that allow sales representatives to generate accurate pricing instantly while in the field.
* Standardize estimating methodologies across diverse residential and commercial project archetypes to drastically minimize human error.

3. Job Costing & Performance Analysis
* Perform post-project historical audits, meticulously comparing pre-construction estimated costs against actual finished job costs.
* Analyze exact variances between projected labor/material performance and reality.
* Identify negative or positive patterns, underlying inaccuracies, and missed assumptions to provide data-driven recommendations to leadership for pricing adjustments.

4. Collaboration & Reporting
* Partner closely with sales, operations, and on-site project teams to ensure all compiled estimates are practical, executable, and fully understood.
* Maintain hyper-organized, centralized records of estimating data, supporting documentation, and historical cost trends.

Candidate Qualifications & Profile

Required Experience
* Experience:5–8 years of dedicated experience in construction estimating.
* Domain Expertise:Explicit experience estimating exterior construction scopes (roofing, siding, gutters, painting).
* Technical Skills:Elite Microsoft Excel capability. You must be completely fluent in building and managing complex, formula-driven pricing models and spreadsheets.
* Competencies:Deep execution knowledge of construction methods, labor production rates, material takeoffs, and blueprint reading.
* Communication:Flawless written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Experience
* Strong background in construction financial analysis and formal job costing.
* Prior experience intentionally designing field-facing pricing tools or structural estimating templates.
