Job Description
Business Development Representative
Reports to: CEO · Location: Remote · Hours: US business hours · Type: Full-time ICBase: Competitive USD per month depending on experience, plus commission
About the Company
We are a U.S.-based registration and payments platform for everything schools run outside the classroom: after-school enrichment, summer camps, athletics, and auxiliary programs. We are a team of about fifteen people, and we lean on AI heavily in our day to day work. Several functions here are supported by AI agents we built ourselves, and that shapes how we approach most problems.
The role in one sentence
You spend your day cold calling the people who run school auxiliary programs, and you need to be genuinely excited about that, because everything else around the call we have already done for you.
What is different about this job
We have an AI teammate named Greer who runs our outbound engine. Greer finds the schools, researches who actually runs the program, writes a custom email for each one, and hands you a call script written for that specific school. What Greer cannot do is talk to people. That part is yours.
So you will not build lists, research prospects, or write first drafts. Your day is reviewing the emails Greer drafted and then calling, which means your call volume will be higher than in a normal BDR job. That is the whole point, and you need to be genuinely excited to work this way.
What you will do
* Review and send the emails Greer drafts for your leads, editing them so they sound like you.
* Work your call queue every day, using the script prepared for each school as a starting point and adapting it live.
* Book demos and hand them cleanly to our Account Executive.
* Learn the product properly. Auxiliary directors will ask you on the call how registration works, how refunds work, and what it costs. "Let me get back to you" loses the moment.
* Log what actually happened. Your call outcomes and disqualification reasons are what Greer learns from, so honest logging makes next week's leads better.
* Tell us when the leads are wrong. You are the first human to speak to any of them.
What we are looking for
* You genuinely like cold calling. Not tolerate it, like it. Most of your day is dialing people who did not ask to hear from you.
* Inside sales experience, ideally in B2B software or services, with formal sales training you actually use.
* Resilience. Twenty calls without a yes does not change how you sound on the twenty-first.
* Near-native spoken and written English.
* Real curiosity about AI, and comfort with a machine doing your preparation.
* You learn a product quickly and deeply, and enjoy knowing how it works rather than only how to pitch it.
* Organized and honest in a CRM. We use HubSpot.
* Reliable US business hours.
We do not require experience in education. Greer supplies the research and context for each school, so curiosity about how schools work matters more than having worked in one.
Why join
* You do the enjoyable part of sales. The preparation is handled.
* You work directly with the CEO, with no layers in between.
* You will be genuinely early to AI-augmented selling, alongside a system most companies are still talking about building.
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R37,000/month, this role is competitive with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($2,000/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
