Audit Manager (Remote - South Africa | Independent Contractor | US Hours)
OverviewWe’re looking for an experienced and hands-onAudit Managerbased in South Africa to lead audit engagements for a US-based client. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to step into a globally exposed role while working remotely and maintaining flexibility as an independent contractor.
You’ll take full ownership of audit engagements, guide junior team members, and ensure high-quality delivery across all phases of the audit. This role suits someone who is confident operating independently, comfortable working across time zones, and motivated by international client exposure.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead end-to-end audit engagements from planning through to completion
* Review audit files, financial statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
* Ensure audits are executed in line withUS GAAP and US auditing standards (GAAS)
* Identify key risk areas and provide practical, value-driven recommendations
* Manage, coach, and review the work of audit associates and juniors
* Act as a key point of contact for US-based clients, ensuring clear and timely communication
* Monitor engagement timelines, budgets, and deliverables
* Drive consistency, quality, and process improvements within the audit function
What We’re Looking For
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CA(SA) or equivalent qualification strongly preferred
* 5+ years of audit experience, including managerial or supervisory responsibility
* Experience working with US clients or international audit standards is highly advantageous
* Strong technical knowledge of audit principles and financial reporting standards
* Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple engagements simultaneously
* Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
* Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
