Marketing Coordinator
Location:Remote — South Africa, LATAM, Eastern Europe, or within ±3 hrs of UK time
Work Hours:Significant overlap with European business hours required
Pay Range:South Africa$1,500–$2,000/mo |LATAM$2,000–$2,500/mo | (Region-dependent)
Engagement:Flexible 20–40 hrs/week
About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable, self-directed Marketing Coordinator to own content, social media, and investor communications for a US-based early-stage venture capital firm focused on technology and interactive entertainment.
This is a role for someone who moves fast, writes well, and uses AI tools fluently — not as a novelty, but as a core part of how they work. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, proactive communication, and the ability to operate independently across multiple workstreams with minimal oversight.
You will be embedded in a small, high-trust team and expected to contribute meaningfully from day one. If you need constant direction or struggle to prioritize ambiguous work, this role is not the right fit.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Social Media (Primary Focus)
* Own and manage content calendars across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and the firm's blog.
* Update and maintain content creation standards, best practices, and frameworks
* Draft, edit, and schedule posts that reflect the firm's voice — sharp, informed, not generic.
* Monitor engagement and metrics; adapt strategy based on what's working.
* Support production of longer-form content including newsletters, market commentary, and thought leadership pieces.
* Coordinate with senior team members to extract ideas and turn them into publishable content.
* Potential to own larger initiatives once the fundamentals are established
Investor Communications
* Support drafting and distribution of LP updates, bulletins, and research distributions.
* Manage email marketing workflows including list hygiene, scheduling, and tracking.
* Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all investor-facing communications.
Website & Digital Operations
* Maintain and update website content using a CMS; coordinate with design resources as needed.
* Track performance across digital channels and flag opportunities for improvement.
Project Management & Internal Coordination
* Manage cross-functional projects, keeping deliverables on track and stakeholders aligned.
* Support event logistics — both virtual and in-person — including conference preparation.
* Conduct market and competitive research as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
* Exceptional written English — clear, concise, professional.
* Proficiency with AI tools — particularly Claude — as a daily productivity and content tool. You should be able to demonstrate real workflows, not just casual use.
* Strong working knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail) — you live in these tools.
* Experience managing social media professionally, with an eye for quality and consistency.
* Highly detail-oriented — you catch errors before they leave your desk.
* Self-starter who manages their own workload, surfaces blockers early, and doesn't wait to be told what to do next.
* Comfortable in a fast-moving, small-team environment where priorities can shift.
Preferred
* Experience with email marketing platforms (MailerLite, Mailchimp, or similar).
* Familiarity with CMS tools; experience with Framer or Sanity is a bonus.
* Background in financial services, venture capital, or investment management — or a strong desire to learn the space.
* Experience supporting investor communications or working with a fund, family office, or professional services firm.
What We're Looking For
Beyond the job description, we want someone with genuine intellectual curiosity and the drive to do excellent work. You should be the kind of person who reads about the industry, has opinions, and brings ideas — not just execution.
We value reliability and quality above all else. A concise, well-crafted update sent on time matters more to us than elaborate work delivered late.
AI fluency is not optional. We use Claude extensively across research, writing, and operations workflows. You should be genuinely comfortable with — and ideally excited by — working in an AI-augmented environment.
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R27,750/month, this role is on par with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($1,500/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
