Role Overview:

As a Regional Reporter, you will play a pivotal role in delivering breaking news about North America's dynamic restaurant and retail scene. Your primary responsibility will be to research, write, and publish exclusive scoops on yet-to-be-announced and yet-to-open restaurants and retailers, including the creation of Partner Alerts (B2B content for our paid subscribers). You will be responsible for identifying trends and keeping our readership informed about restaurant and retail openings across several geographical regions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee breaking news coverage in the restaurant and retail verticals across assigned metro areas, with weekly and monthly coverage goals

• Build and maintain a wide network of sources within the restaurant and retail industries in your assigned regions

• Ensure all published content is meticulously copy edited, adheres to our style guide, and meets editorial standards

• Optimize posts for search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance visibility and engagement

• Manage city-specific social media accounts to promote content and engage with the local audience

• Track and analyze readership metrics to identify trends and drive strategic growth in your regions

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a reporter or editor, ideally with a focus on breaking news and feature reporting in the restaurant, retail, or real estate sectors

• Familiarity with the restaurant and retail industries is a plus

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and adherence to editorial standards

• Strong knowledge of SEO best practices and ability to optimize content for search engines

• Experience managing social media platforms for content promotion and audience engagement

• Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with industry sources and freelance contributors across multiple markets

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
