Head Recruiter / People Ops Specialist
Location:South Africa (Remote)
Market Coverage:PH / LATAM / SA
Compensation:$1,500 – $2,500 + Commission (depending on experience)
Shift:South Africa Standard Time (This allows overlap for PH and LATAM hubs)
The Role
We are a global video production agency entering an aggressive growth phase. Having established strong teams in the Philippines and LATAM, we are now expanding our footprint into South Africa. We need a high-levelHead Recruiter / People Ops Specialistbased in SA to lead this expansion while maintaining our global talent pipeline.
This isn't a "wait for instruction" role. You are the subject matter expert. You will own the recruitment engine, including strategizing where we post, how we source, and how we assess the world's best creative talent. When you aren't hunting for elite Video Animators, you’ll be the architect of our internal People Operations, ensuring our 30+ person (and growing) global team is supported and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition Mastery (70%)
* Expansion Leadership:Lead the charge in establishing our third hub in South Africa, sourcing local talent while continuing to manage our established PH and LATAM funnels.
* The Proactive Filter:Manage the end-to-end funnel for creative roles (primarily Video Animators). You will review portfolios, facilitate test projects, and conduct screenings to ensure Department Heads only see the absolute top performers.
* Strategic Sourcing:Don't just wait for applicants. You will prospect and headhunt passive candidates who have the "creative eye" our agency requires.
* Process Architecture:Guide leadership (Erik) on recruitment best practices. You will determine the budget, create the strategy for each role, and decide which platforms yield the best ROI.
* Growth Goals:Hit a consistent target of 4+ high-quality placements per month.
2. People Operations & Onboarding (30%)
* Onboarding:Own the "Welcome" experience. You’ll be responsible for making sure new hires are integrated into the agency culture and ready to contribute immediately.
* Internal HR Management:Manage the internal HR-related needs for the agency, acting as the point of contact for team health and operational support during quieter recruitment months.
* Process Improvement:Audit and refine internal people processes to keep our global hubs aligned and efficient.
Who You Are
* The Expert:You have a deep background in international recruitment, specifically within video production or creative agencies. You know how to spot a great editor or animator just by looking at their reel.
* Process-Driven:You are an ops-focused recruiter; firm on process and results, but supportive and culture-focused. You don't need a manual; you write it.
* Self-Starter:You are generative. You bring ideas to the table, map them to our goals, and execute without needing constant oversight. We need you to be the subject matter expert in recruitment and advise our teams - we want you to build out passive pipelines of talent that are ready to go right when we open a position.
* Strategically Timed:You are based in South Africa and comfortable working hours that allow for meaningful overlap with our teams in the Philippines and LATAM.
Requirements
* Significant experience in Senior Recruitment or Talent Acquisition (Creative/Tech focus preferred).
* Experience with international hiring, specifically in South Africa, PH, or LATAM markets.
* Strong interest or background in People Ops/HR functions.
* Excellent judgment and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced agency environment.
* Experience and comfortability for sourcing; we are not looking for someone who only goes through active applicants.
