Salary:$1,800 – $2,500/month (commensurate with experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive French-speaking Regional Reporter to deliver fast-paced, high-volume breaking news coverage on North America's dynamic restaurant and retail scene. In this high-velocity role, you will self-generate stories, produce short-form articles, and deliver exclusive scoops on yet-to-be-announced openings, including B2B Partner Alerts for our paid subscribers.

Key Responsibilities
* High-Volume Reporting:Research, write, and self-edit 20+ short-form articles (approx. 250 words each) per week covering local business moves.

* Regional Focus:Maintain dedicated coverage of key markets, including Toronto (6 articles/week), Quebec (6 articles/week in French), and other expanded North American regions.

* Independent Story Sourcing:Actively pitch and investigate original scoops, beat leads, and yet-to-open business developments without relying on pre-assigned topics.

* Editorial & SEO Optimization:Write sharp, publication-ready copy adhering to visual standards, AP style guidelines, and SEO best practices to maximize readership.

* Audience & Source Building:Manage city-specific social media channels and cultivate a robust network of real estate, retail, and restaurant sources across assigned metros.

Qualifications
* Investigative Mindset:Strong background in beat reporting or investigative journalism with a proven track record of unearthing enterprise stories independently.

* Language Proficiency:Fluent in French and English with exceptional written communication in both languages.
