Landscape Construction Estimator — Design/Build (Remote)

Location & Employment:Fully remote. Full-time. U.S. Eastern Time overlap for daily coordination with field and office leadership.

We are a rapidly growing, U.S.-based, veteran-owned design-build landscape and outdoor-living company serving residential and commercial clients across Northeast and Central Florida. We design and install custom landscapes, hardscapes, outdoor living spaces, driveways, walkways, lighting, and plantings — from high-end residential backyards to commercial projects. Our work has been featured on national home-improvement television, and we carry a strong regional reputation. We are expanding into a second major market and scaling the operational backbone to support it.

About the Role

We design and build — which means every project starts with a plan and a number. Today, estimating and takeoffs fall on our general manager and operations director, both of whom belong in the field moving between job sites, not behind a laptop pricing work at the end of a long day. As residential design-build volume grows and we expand into a new market, bid volume is outpacing capacity.

This role owns the estimating desk. You'll turn designs and plans into accurate, timely, client-ready estimates and proposals — working from our established cost data, vendor pricing, and production rates — so field leadership stays in the field and no opportunity stalls waiting on a number.

Key Responsibilities

Plan Review & Quantity Takeoffs
* Review landscape and hardscape designs, site plans, and construction drawings
* Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs — plant material, sod/turf, pavers and hardscape, lighting, irrigation, drainage, and grading/site work
* Flag missing information or scope gaps before pricing
Cost Estimating & Pricing
* Build detailed estimates using the company's unit-cost data, vendor pricing, and labor/production rates
* Apply markups, margins, and contingencies to company standards
* Price change orders and estimate revisions as scope evolves
Proposal & Bid Preparation
* Produce clean, professional, client-ready proposals and scopes of work
* Assemble commercial bid packages and complete public / HOA / GC bid forms as needed
* Track bid due dates and ensure on-time submission
Vendor & Cost Data Management
* Collect and update material and subcontractor pricing; help maintain a living cost database
* Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on quotes for specialty items
* Partner with field leadership to keep production rates and unit costs accurate to real job outcomes
Estimate Tracking & Post-Bid Analysis
* Maintain an organized log of estimates, win/loss, and margins
* Compare estimated vs. actual costs to sharpen future pricing
* Report on bid volume, hit rate, and pipeline value

Required Qualifications
* 3+ years of construction estimating experience — landscape, hardscape, site work, or a related trade (civil, exteriors, general construction)
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans
* Hands-on experience with takeoff/estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, STACK, or similar) and strong Excel skills
* Strong math, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate estimates independently
* Excellent English communication and full-time U.S. Eastern Time overlap

Preferred Qualifications
* Landscape, design-build, irrigation, hardscape, or outdoor-living estimating experience specifically
* Experience estimating for the U.S. market, with familiarity with U.S. materials and units of measure
* Exposure to both residential design-build and commercial/public bid processes
* Familiarity with landscape/construction platforms (LMN, Aspire, Buildertrend, Jobber, or similar)

You can juggle multiple bids and deadlines without dropping one, and you understand that an estimate is both a math exercise and a sales document: it has to be accurate, and it has to look professional.
