Job Description
Location:Remote (LATAM and South Africa)Contract:Independent ContractorSchedule:Full-Time, Monday-Friday, CST
About the Client
Our client is a proud fourth-generation, family-owned company with a century-long legacy in the logistics and moving industry. Founded in 1924, they have grown into one of the top-performing agents for a major national van lines network. Their mission is to deliver personalized, reliable moving and storage solutions built on a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Role Overview: The Strategic Builder
While the company is 100 years old, the marketing function is essentially a "startup" environment. There are no pre-existing SOPs, no playbooks, and no established marketing infrastructure.
We are seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to act as a "team of one" to build this department from the ground up. This is a role for a high-level executor who is comfortable getting their hands dirty for the first 1-2 years while advising the company on long-term strategy. You will partner closely with the Sales team to build funnels, create referral partnerships, and drive a "shotgun approach" to increasing high-quality leads.
Key Responsibilities
I. Marketing Strategy & Advisory
* Foundational Build:Advise leadership on the overall marketing direction and build the structure, SOPs, and playbooks for the department from scratch.
* Funnel Architecture:Create and implement end-to-end funnels designed to capture new business and move prospects through the lifecycle.
* Collaborative Lead Gen:Work hand-in-hand with the Sales team to ensure marketing efforts directly result in increased business and qualified opportunities.
II. HubSpot & Data Management
* CRM Mastery:Act as the internal expert for HubSpot (both Sales and Marketing hubs), ensuring data integrity and optimizing the platform for lead tracking.
* Analytics & Reporting:Utilize Google Analytics to track performance and provide data-driven insights to ownership.
* SEO/SEM Strategy:Manage organic and paid search strategies to increase visibility and inbound traffic.
III. Execution & Lead Development
* Organic Growth:Focus on the organic development of leads through referral partnerships and strategic networking rather than relying solely on paid media or PPC.
* Email Campaigns:Design and execute high-impact email marketing campaigns to reach prospects and nurture existing relationships.
* Social Presence:Maintain a consistent baseline presence on LinkedIn and Facebook to build brand credibility.
* Collateral Maintenance:Own and maintain all marketing collateral, ensuring the brandβs 100-year legacy is represented professionally across all assets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Experience:8-10 years of professional marketing experience. We are looking for a senior-level "doer" rather than a delegator.
* Background:Proven track record in small businesses or startups where you were required to be "scrappy" and build processes from zero.
* HubSpot Expert:Complete fluency in HubSpot Sales and Marketing hubs is non-negotiable.
* Technical Proficiency:Strong hands-on experience with Google Analytics, SEO/SEM, and basic creative tools like Canva.
* Communication:Exceptional English fluency and the ability to advise executive leadership with confidence and clarity.
Candidate Vetting (What We Are NOT Looking For)
* No Large Agency Backgrounds:We are not looking for candidates who have spent their careers in large agencies or managing large teams of specialists.
* No Pure Delegators:If your most recent experience is primarily managing people or delegating tasks, this is not the right fit. You must be willing to execute the work personally.
* No Social-Only Experts:We need a 360-degree marketer, not a specialist who only understands social media management.
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to take a 100-year-old brand and define its modern marketing identity. You will have a direct seat at the table with ownership, the autonomy to build your own systems, and the potential to scale a team once the foundational work is complete.
Tips for South African Applicants
Timezone Advantage
South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.
Salary in Context
At R46,250/month, this role is competitive with the average South African remote salary. The USD equivalent ($2,500/mo) benefits from the favourable exchange rate.
Application Tips
Tailor your CV to international standards β use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.
Load Shedding Preparedness
If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
