Job Description

Employment Type:Full timeWork Model:RemoteWork Hours:US work hours

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Content Writer with real writing chops and experience in advertising, adtech, or agency environments.

This is not an AI-prompting role. We are looking for someone who can think, synthesize, and write — someone who can take raw notes, conversations, or POVs and turn them into compelling, intelligent thought leadership.

You will primarily write on behalf of CEOs and senior executives.

What You’ll Write
* Executive thought leadership bylines and editorials
* Corresponding LinkedIn posts that extend and humanize those POVs
* Press releases and narrative-driven announcements
* Occasional POV memos or outlines to support media pitching
Typical volume:
* 1 long-form thought leadership piece per executive per month (up to 8 per month)
* 1–2 LinkedIn posts per long-form pieces
* Press releases
* Ad Hoc writing needs - speaker pitches, journalist pitches, briefing documents et al

What You’ll Do
* Translate interviews, notes, and conversations into strong, original writing
* Research the topic (if required) and write the content. Part of that research is which publication we are targeting, and crafting writing that makes sense for that publication
* Work with project manager to ensure there is a clear process for content creation, distribution, pitching, etc.
* Capture an executive’s voice, perspective, and point of view authentically
* Write clearly about complex topics in advertising, media, AI, data, and technology
* Collaborate on narrative direction and feedback
* Revise and refine work based on thoughtful edits

What We’re Looking For
* 7+ years experience as a writer in advertising, adtech, media, or agency settings
* Proven experience writing executive-level thought leadership
* Strong understanding of the advertising and marketing ecosystem
* Ability to write with authority, nuance, and originality
* Comfortable interviewing executives or working from rough notes
* Excellent editor of your own work
* No reliance on AI-generated content — we value human thinking and voice

What Success Looks Like
* Executives feel accurately represented and proud of their writing
* Content feels insightful, not generic
* Writing sparks conversation, credibility, and recognition in the industry
* Work is delivered on time, clean, and ready to publish

Tips for South African Applicants

Timezone Advantage

South Africa (SAST, UTC+2) overlaps well with European business hours and has a few hours of overlap with US East Coast. Mention your timezone flexibility in your application.

💰

Salary in Context

Even without a listed salary, international remote roles typically pay 2-3x more than equivalent local positions in South Africa due to the exchange rate advantage.

📋

Application Tips

Tailor your CV to international standards — use a clean format, highlight remote work experience, and include your English proficiency. Many SA applicants succeed by emphasising their strong work ethic and cultural adaptability.

🔌

Load Shedding Preparedness

If you're applying for a remote role, having a backup power solution (UPS, inverter, or generator) and mobile data as a backup internet connection shows employers you're prepared for South Africa's infrastructure challenges.
